The highest-ROI rental loyalty messages are clocks on the customer record, not a monthly newsletter.
Birthday (party rentals). Store the child’s birth date — or the last event date if that is all you captured. Four to six weeks before the next birthday, send one SMS or email: last year’s package, live availability, point balance, deposit link. Parents lock Saturdays early; a note two days before the party is too late.
Event anniversary (wedding). The couple may not rent every year, but the planner and venue will. Time a lookbook to the planner contact. Do not spray a discount to the couple a week after the wedding.
Annual win-back (every niche). Time it off the last completed reservation — “it’s been a year” — not a marketing calendar. GRS publishes that an annual win-back tied to the last job brings about 18% of those customers back. Treat 18% as a benchmark to beat, not a guarantee.
Contractor drip (equipment). After a job closes: invoice paid → review request → “need the lift again?” at 30–60 days, plus a trailing-volume tier. Equipment loyalty is an account relationship, not a punch card.
Channel mix: SMS for near-term party reminders, email for lookbooks and point statements, push in a customer app if you offer one. Keep rental SMS 10DLC-compliant on the same record so an opt-out is honored everywhere.
